iPod Five Rs
The Five Rs For iPod
iPod Repair doesn't have to be as difficult as you might think. Most problems of the iPod can be solved by using the five Rs that are outlined on the Apple iPod website itself. These are Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall and Restore.
Before attempting any kind of iPod repair, see if the charging is not the problem. Is the charger indicator of the iPod showing that it has enough charge? If yes, then proceed.
Reset – First, put the Hold switch off and then back on. Then press the Menu and Select keys together for about six to ten seconds. The Apple logo will appear. In most cases, your iPod will function normally after this.
Retry – It may happen that the USB on your computer you are using your iPod with is defective. Try using the iPod on another USB port.
Restart – If your computer is not making communication with the computer, the problem may lie with the computer. Try restarting your computer and the problem may be solved.
Reinstall – This will work if the iPod software you are using has some problem or is outdated. Go to iTunes when the iPod is connected. Now, select the iPod bar on iTunes. There is a 'Check for Updates' button there. Click on it.
Restore – Restoring is the last thing you must do with your iPod, after you have seen that the other possibilities do not help. This is done when the iPod is connected to the computer and with the iTunes software. Click the iPod bar on the software and click Restore.
